Some Helpful Tips About Buying Books on the Web
Popular books are reprinted several times, and some can even be reprinted more than once in a single year. The problem is that many online bookstores do not automatically show you the most up-to-date edition of a book at the top of their search results. So don't assume that just because the author and title match, you've found the book you want to buy. Spend an extra couple of minutes reading through the other entries for the same author, in case there
is a more recent copy of the book available.
Beware of buying the same book twice This can be a surprisingly easy mistake to make, especially with books that have both a "title" and a "subtitle".
You can also run into problems between the hardback and paperback editions of a given book, since publishers take it upon themselves on occasion to change the title in the transition. So wherever possible, try to look at a picture of the book's cover, and read the brief Synopsis provided by many booksellers.
There are only so many titles in this world... Surprisingly large numbers of books have similar or identical titles. To be safe, always check a book's author(s) as well as its title before the selection.
Don't over-pay when the only difference between two books is the price When you shop regularly at online booksellers, you'll find that their pricing can be different The cheapest edition may in fact be out-of-date, but that's not always the case, so look closely at the publication date.
Is information on shipping charges, delivery times, refunds, returns etc. clearly stated? If the store has a clear policy on refunds or returns, you know where you stand should your shopping experience prove a bad one. Is your credit card information secure? Sites should only ask for credit card or similarly sensitive information via a secure form. Secure pages are usually flagged by the web browser software via a warning or graphic.
